Some words of wisdom from my mum.

My mum is gone and some days I find it really sad, but then I think of what she would say. "Kiss it all up to God, Kelly", and she is right. Some things I just have to let go of and hope for the best.

These past few weeks have been wrought with confusion for what I want to do with my life. Do I want to stay in my job as an accountant (blah) or start really working on my crafts and try to make a go of it. There are so many inspiring stories out there and here in Ipswich it seems like there are more and more chickas like myself who are following their hearts and making their mark.

I would like to dedicate this post to the local people (mostly the girls) who are inspiring me to go for gold...

Vintage by Lou Lou who is jumping forward in leaps and bounds with her new website and Charity Events

Tania from Jet Beads and Crafts who made the massive move and is reaping the rewards

Kyla Does Stuff, the crafty queen of multitasking who also has a hand in The Ipswich Indoor Bazaar

I am yet to meet most of these girls but am so inspired by them. Maybe if I take a little from each, I will find the path.

Inspiration from hell!

I know, I know, I haven’t stuck true to my promise to post here often. Well, things get away from me sometimes!

I have been struggling for inspiration lately in my jewellery creation, I know it’s only a hobby but it fulfils me and satisfies my need to create, but we all fall into a slump every now and then. There is a plethora of handmade EVERYTHING out there and I have been trolling the www for new ideas to inspire me.But instead cam across these questionable creations…………hmmmm. Well they were entries in the ‘Annual Ugly Necklace Competition’

Here is my best...or should I say worst attempt at creating UGLY for the 2009 Land of Odds Ugly Necklace Contest.  My submission is called Coffin Nails.
It is against our instinct to purposely NOT create well-balanced and pretty, which makes this contest a challenge.
Warren Feld, the the owner of the online jewelry supplies store, landofodds.com hosts this contest every year.
Your vote lets us know how well or badly weve done in our Ugly challenge!
So now I return to my beading table and wait for non-ugly inspiration to take me over.

Welcome to my Blog

After much consideration for my time and other commitments I have decided to join the blogging world. I am an avid reader of blogs and always spend part of my day devoted to searching through my favourites.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Kelly Crafty...yes it really is! I was given this name at birth and now it seems to be my lot in life to be just that...Crafty! I love all types of crafts and artistic pursuits but making jewellery is my favourite thing at the moment. I am sure that will change as it always does.

In the past I have been into painting and knitting, papercrafts and scrapbooking, papermaking and bookbinding. I have dipped my toes in the pottery making ocean as well as sewing up a storm every day for weeks on end. I don't really like to labelled with one particular thing, I guess you could just call me creative!

I live in the town of Ipswich, Qld, Australia and have lived here for 16 years. There are so many things to do here in the crafty realm, great shops and teachers, markets with amazing fellow crafters and a huge amount of support and encouragement from so may people. I am lucky to live here and regret my initial reluctance to join 'the switch'! I was a teen, that's my only excuse!

I am married, 31, have no children at the moment but big plans for them in the near future. I work as a book keeper for a few local businesses and am lucky to mostly work from home. It allows me plenty of time for crafty pursuits, and hopefully now for blogging and writing all about what happens around me.

So, that's me. I hope you will enjoy my writing endeavours and forgive my terrible spelling (thank heavens for spell-check!) Follow me if you enjoy my posts and please make comments...I love to get feedback!
